February 28: A Birthday, A Legacy, A Commitment

February 28 is more than my birthday.

It is the day I celebrate my birth, and the heavenly birthday of my African mother, whom God called home in 2013. This month also holds another sacred moment: we laid to rest my American mother.

Joy and remembrance now walk together.

I was born in Belgium, rooted in the heritage of the Democratic Republic of Congo. My journey has stretched across continents and callings, shaped in Zimbabwe through pastoral ministry, a work that began there and continued for about fourteen years here in the United States.

That foundation strengthened me through a transition into information technology, refined me through enterprise consulting with organizations such as Octo, Comcast, and IBM, and expanded through founding Kids Teck and EMLink while pursuing doctoral research in AI, Machine Learning, Robotics, and reliability engineering.

Belgium gave me birth.

Congo gave me roots.

Zimbabwe shaped my faith.

The United States became my adoptive home — a place where I continue to build, serve, and grow.

This year, February 28 carries a deeper meaning.

It reminds me that legacy is never built alone. It is inherited, nurtured, and carried forward. My African mother’s strength lives in my resilience. My American mother’s encouragement lives in my confidence to build, lead, and pursue new opportunities. Their sacrifices, prayers, and belief in me echo in every decision I make.

Each season of life has refined me:

The full-time ministry taught me to serve people.

IT taught me to design systems.

Consulting taught me to scale impact.

Entrepreneurship taught me ownership.

Research is teaching me depth.

Being a family man teaches me balance and responsibility.

This birthday is not simply the marking of another year. It is a moment to honor the foundations that formed me and to commit to building in a way that reflects that legacy.

As I step into this new year, my focus remains clear:

Build with excellence.

Lead with integrity.

Serve with humility.

Invest in family.

Create systems that empower people across nations.

I also want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has walked this journey with me, my family and friends, the church communities I have had the privilege to lead and serve, the students and professionals I have mentored and taught around the world, and those who follow and support my work through my blog, social media, and various platforms.

Your encouragement, belief, prayers, feedback, and consistent support mean more than words can fully express. You are part of this story. You are part of this growth. And I am deeply thankful for each of you.

I carry their legacy into every platform I design, every student I mentor, and every vision I pursue. The work continues with gratitude, discipline, and faith.

February 28 is a celebration.

It is remembrance.

It is a responsibility.

It is a purpose.

Grateful for the journey.

Honoring those who came before me.

Thankful for those walking with me.

Ready for what lies ahead.
