How the Bible Can Help Us Address Depression in Life, Family, and Church

In this video, I share tips on how the Bible can help us address depression in life, family and even at Church.

What is depression?

The American Psychiatric Association (APA) defines depression as “a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act.”

As you watch the video, keep in mind that depression may also require medical attention.

According to The American Psychiatric Association, signs for you to watch so that you seek help include:

  • Feeling sad or having a depressed mood.
  • Loss of interest or pleasure in activities once enjoyed.
  • Changes in appetite — weight loss or gain unrelated to dieting.
  • Trouble sleeping or sleeping too much.
  • Loss of energy or increased fatigue.
  • Increase in purposeless physical activity (e.g., hand-wringing or pacing) or slowed movements and speech (actions observable by others).
  • Feeling worthless or guilty.
  • Difficulty thinking, concentrating or making decisions.
  • Thoughts of death or suicide.

How then does the Bible help us deal with depression?

In this video you’ll discover ways to help you deal with depression:

  • First, everything takes place in your mind.
  • Second, know what you’re fighting (your enemies).
  • Third, use faith and filters.

Scriptures mentioned and used in this video:

  • Romans 12: 1-2
  • 1 Timothy 6: 12
  • Matthew 11: 28,29
  • Philippians 4: 8.

You can find more other Scriptures, including the ones I’ve mentioned in my video, which you could use to address depressions at The Bible Study Tools.

I would like to hear from you. What are some other ways, not mentioned in this video, you think we, as Christians, should use to address depression?

Depression is a real issue. So, please share this video with somebody!
