You Should Succeed in Life Because You’re a Christian

You should succeed in life because you’re a Christian!

You would wonder how and what this means. Let me first share with you what I understand success to be. Here’s how I define success.

  • Success has to do with clarity. It deals with clarity about who you are and who you could become.
  • Second, success has to do with clarity about how you can move from who you are to who you could become.

One more thing you should always keep in mind is to measure your success in relation to you. Never measure your success in relation to other people’s successes. You’re unique and have a special reason you’re here on earth. Here are the six reasons, as a Christian, you should succeed in life.

You Have God on Your Side

There are four things you enjoy having God on your side.

First, God gives you strength. God’s strength helps you endure and resist anything that comes your way.

Nothing of what happens in your life can break you. You become resilient. No matter what you go through, you will always recover from it and get on your feet again.

Second, God gives you power. You become “response-able.” You are able to respond in a healthy manner to anything that occurs in your life. You are the one who changes your surroundings. Not the other way around.

Third, God gives you hope. Knowing God is with you helps you remember that God is in charge. What you can’t handle, God can.

Anything that seems too hard and tough for you, God takes care of it. God covers you and protects you from any harm. You also know, because of having God on your side, there will always be better days for you.

You Have a New Identity

Anyone who’s in Christ becomes a new creation (2 Corinthians 5: 17). If you have God on your side, God makes you a new creation. God gives you a new “self.”

Being in Christ means believing in and receiving Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. It is a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ (see John 1: 12). This relationship allows you to re-discover who you are and who you could become.

And, how you can do it is through God. Paul affirms it in Acts 17: 28: “In him (God) we live and move and have our being. For we are his offspring” ESV.

Living, moving and being imply everything from identity to personality, and meaning and purpose in life, which we can only find in God.

You Gain a New “Perception” of Life

Re-discovering ourselves in God changes our perception of life. Paul talks about that as a renewal of the mind (see Romans 12: 1-2).

The renewal of the mind changes everything about how you see life, people, and the environment.

Not only the renewal of your mind allows you to experience the above. It also enables you to appreciate life, people, and nature.

You Have a Greater Purpose in Life

Now you have re-discovered your identity and have more clarity about who you are, you also gain a clear picture of why you’re here on earth.

Understand that you are to serve God, the Maker of the universe.

Your life is interconnected with those of other people. You can’t be who you are today just on your own.

Going back to your Maker will allow you to find out about why you’re here on earth.

I always refer to what Jeremiah said once: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1: 6. ESV).

If God formed, knew and had established you for some purpose in this life, then God is the One to help you discover everything about you, including why you’re here on earth.

And, once you have clarity on your purpose in life, you’ll succeed at everything you do.

You Gain Emotional Stability

As I pointed out above, you find clarity in God. The reason is that God alone can show you who you are and who you could become.

Connecting with God means you’re inviting Jesus Christ into your life as your personal Lord and Savior.

Why do you have to do so?

There’s a Scripture that says that your body is the temple of God’s Spirit and that you do not belong to yourself (1 Corinthians 6: 19).

Being God’s dwelling means that our success is a result of having the Holy Spirit in us. And, when we are filled with the Holy Spirit, we also receive power from God to become God’s witnesses (Acts 1: 8).

In addition to becoming God’s witnesses, we also experience the fruit of the Holy Spirit: joy, love, kindness, self-control, peace, patience, goodness, gentleness, and faithfulness (see Galatians 5: 22).

The fruit of the Spirit is all that every one of us needs in order to succeed at everything we do in life. These fruits represent what people want to learn through coaching, counseling and a variety of workshops.

You’re All About Actions

Experiencing the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5: 22), as listed above requires practice and action. You’ve got to choose to act upon each of the fruit of God’s Spirit.

You only get better at it through actions. For you to be patient, you have to choose to do so and practice it.

In the beginning it will be hard. However, don’t give up. Keep practicing while you ask God to help you with all that.

In Conclusion

You, as a Christian, are to be successful at everything you do in life. That’s because you have God on their side, and Who enables you to re-discover your true identity and gain a new perception of life.
