Actions Speak Louder Than What You Say About Yourself

You and I may have heard of the saying: “actions speak louder than words.”

In such a noisy world, and in which everything seems to be about superficiality, people tend to worry so much more about how they look in public than who they truly are.

Look at social media, for instance, who would really want to share the real mess in their personal lives? There are very few people who are bold enough to share their personal struggles. For some it could be a way of getting some attention from their friends. But, there are also others who genuinely want help and support using social media.

A question, however, to ask ourselves could be: “How can we be true to ourselves and other people?

John, in his letter, attempted to answer by saying:

Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”

So, love and truth are the two primary components of what should help us be true to God, ourselves and other people.

Love Helps You Connect Words and Actions

God is love and because of that you have to start with God to help you connect our words and deeds.

God will help you love Him and love others. Loving God means giving Him your everything, including your relationships.

As a result of placing God at the core of our relationships, you become able to love other people God’s way. This consists of doing for people what you would want them do for you.

In other words, what you don’t want others do to you is exactly what you choose not to do for them first.

Truth Helps You Connect Words And Actions

With God’s love in your heart, you then discover the truth about yourself. Because of love in your life, who you are in public becomes a result of who you have become in private.

Love and truth are the only two things that can help you be a person of integrity. Your life is, as a result, grounded in love and truth.

Love fuels who you are and consequently allows you to be true to God, yourself and other people.

When who you are is grounded in love of God and neighbor, connecting your words with actions becomes organic. It is so because this is now a part of who you are.

Today, don’t merely say that you love other people. But, show the truth about who you are, God’s lover, by your actions!
